On Saturday, February 1,2014, the Portland Pirates raised a total of $2,286 for Junior Achievement of Maine during their game against the Binghamton Senators at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston.
The Junior Achievement Program of Maine and the Portland Pirates partnered for the 9th straight season in 2013-14, working together to provide students of Casco Bay High School the opportunity to learn what it takes to be successful in the world of professional selling through a planned intensive course offered to students at Casco Bay High School. With the relentless support of companies from both the Greater Portland area and Androscoggin County, Casco Bay High School has raised more $30,000 towards the library and technology needs of the school.
Through the JA/Pirates partnership, students learn how to prepare for sales meetings, how to handle themselves in a professional manner, and they learn what it takes to sell ticket packages to business leaders in the Greater Portland area.
The JA course offers students their first real opportunity to work and learn in a professional business setting with the Portland Pirates and also offers the students the chance to hear from Business leaders in their community through planned lessons and guest speakers provided by the Junior Achievement Program of Maine.
