Portland Pirates, LLC
Portland Pirates, LLC, formed in October, 2000 is a Delaware Limited Liability Company
which owns the Portland Pirates professional hockey franchise, a member of the American
Hockey League since 1993.
Lyman Bullard, a sports law partner at Choate, Hall & Stewart in Boston, Massachusetts,
serves as Chairman and Managing Owner of the company. Brian Petrovek, an experienced
sports management executive from USA Hockey, Inc, The USA Hockey Foundation and the NHL’s
New Jersey Devils, is the CEO and Managing Owner. Brian Williams, former Director, USA
Hockey InLine, runs the day-to-day operations as President/COO. Bob Higgins, principal,
Highland Capital Partners, Lexington, Massachusetts, is a member of the company’s board
of managers along with Mr. Bullard and Mr. Petrovek.
The Vision of the Portland Pirates is to become the AHL’s premiere member, offering a
place where key constituencies can come together to experience professional hockey. Its
Mission is to deliver professional hockey in a first-class, exciting, memorable and
entertaining way for a family of constituencies, affordably priced, delivering superior
value and satisfaction.
