| GERBE ADDS A GOAL AND THREE ASSISTS IN THE PORTLAND VICTORY |
Portland, Maine - Tyler Ennis registered his first career hat trick and added an assist to lead the Portland Pirates to a 6-3 win over the Hartford Wolf Pack in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 3,285 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
Ennis’ production represented his first goals and assist in the AHL.
Nathan Gerbe added a goal and three assists to the Portland attack while Jeff Cowan supplied a pair of goals and Marc-Andre Gragnani had two assists as the Pirates improved to 2-3 on the season.
Bobby Sanguinetti, Paul Crowder and Andres Ambuhl scored for the Wolf Pack, who saw a two-game winning streak come to an end. Hartford dropped to 2-3 on the season with the loss.
The Pirates led 1-0 after one and connected for three more in the second to carry a 4-0 advantage into the third.
The Wolf Pack out shot the Pirates 33-24 in the game as Jhonas Enroth posted the victory for the Pirates.
The three stars of the game were all from the Pirates. Ennis was the first, Gerbe the second and Cowan the third.
The Pirates head out on to the road for their next five games beginning tomorrow (Saturday) night when they travel to Manchester to face the Monarchs in a 7 p.m. start. Sunday Portland is in Providence to meet the Bruins in a 4:05 p.m. start. Both games can be heard live on News Talk WLOB 95.5FM and on-line at www.portlandpirates.com beginning with the pre-game show 15 minutes before the opening face-off.
The next Pirates home game takes place Friday, October 30th when the Lowell Devils visit the CCCC on Breast Cancer Awareness Night, presented by Paradigm Window Solutions. The Pirates will wear commemorative pink jerseys, which will be included in a silent auction with the proceeds donated to the Maine Medical Center Cancer Institute's Breast Care Center. A portion of the proceeds from the game’s 50/50 sales will also be donated to the Maine Medical Center Cancer Institute’s research and care initiatives.
In addition, the Pirates have committed to donate $3 from every advanced ticket purchased through this promotion to the Maine Medical Center Cancer Institute's Breast Care Center to help promote breast health and research. In order for a donation to be made, tickets for the October 30th game must be purchased by calling the Pirates ticket office at (207) 828-4665 ext. 317. Advance or game-day tickets purchased at the CCCC Box Office will not qualify for the $3 donation.
