Vice President, Communications
The 2009-2010 season will mark the sixth season that Greg Glynn will serve as the
play-by-play voice of the Pirates. In addition to his on-air duties, Glynn serves
as Vice President, Communications, overseeing the content of all news releases,
team publications, game notes and administration of portlandpirates.com. He also
schedules all player and staff appearances within the community and is the moderator
of the team’s "Goals For Success" aspirations program in local schools. In addition,
Glynn will work with Pirates management to execute and manage all external
communications and advertising strategies for the franchise and for the Portland
Pirates Foundation. He also serves on the Development Committee for Gary’s House.
Before coming to Portland, Glynn served for four years as a broadcaster for
Quinnipiac University hockey on WQUN 1220AM along with veteran announcer Bill
Schweizer. In his career, Glynn has had experience covering a large and diverse
range of collegiate and professional sports.
In addition to his work at WQUN, he was the MAAC beat writer for two years with
nationally respected U.S College Hockey Magazine (USCHM). While working for USCHM,
Glynn covered major events such as the 2000 MAAC Championships and the 2001 NCAA
Finals. He has also worked for U.S College Hockey Online.com, a nationally recognized
web site.
In 2002, Glynn interned at 1510AM "The Zone" in Burlington, MA with Sean McDonough
and "The McDonough Group" radio show. The following year, Glynn worked for New England
Cable News in Newton, MA. In 2004, Glynn served as the sports director and sports
anchor on the 11pm news at Q30-TV (QUTV) and was later presented an award by Quinnipiac
Athletics for Outstanding Support in Broadcasting and Multi-Media.
Glynn, 27, is a native of Sudbury, Massachusetts is a member of the American
Sportscasters Association and is a graduate of the Broadcast Journalism program at
Quinnipiac University.
