Sislo extended the lead with 9:15 left in the second, his third point of the period, and chased Mark Visentin from the game, with Mike Lee taking over. Alexandre Bolduc brought the momentum back to Portland’s side, scoring on the rebound after Chris Brown’s shot for his 24th goal of the year at 14:27 of the 2nd. Andy Miele had the opportunity to tie the game after he was awarded a penalty shot with 2:21 left in the period, but he was stopped by Frazee.
Portland ratcheted up the pressure in the third period, putting 14 more shots on net. Andy Miele would beat Frazee for a second time with 5:48 to go in regulation, tying the game at 4. Mike Lee would then take over for Portland, making a series of fantastic saved in the third period and overtime, forcing the game into a shootout.
Mike Lee allowed his first shootout goal of the season after coming into the game a perfect 9 for 9 in shootout saves, but Ethan Werek would score the deciding shootout tally to give the Pirates the 5-4 win.
