The Portland Pirates get back to action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Manchester to face the Monarchs The puck will drop at 3PM for the fourth game of the VIP Cup Series, presented by VIP Parts, Tires and Service, with Manchester holding a 2-1 advantage.
The Pirates are coming off a Friday victory at home against the Worcester Sharks by a 4-3 margin, and a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Providence Bruins. On Friday, the Pirates were led by their captain Alexandre Bolduc, who tallied a goal and an assist, with David Rundblad, Chris Conner, and Chris Brown tallying goals. In Saturday’s contest, Rundblad ran his goal scoring streak to 4 games, but it wasn’t enough as the P-Bruins scored 4 unanswered goals, including 2 empty netters, to seal the victory.
Manchester faced the Springfield Falcons this weekend in a home and home series. On Friday, the Monarchs were defeated as the Falcons scored 5 goals in the third to top Manchester 5-4. On Saturday, the Monarchs traveled to Springfield and defeated the Falcons2-1 in a come from behind effort.
The last time these two teams met was a week ago on November 25th in Manchester, where Portland edged the Monarchs 3-2. David Rundblad had the game winner in overtime for the Pirates, who are now within one game of tying the VIP Cup Series at 2.
