Lewiston, ME - The St. John's IceCaps stormed into Lewiston Wednesday, scoring five times to hand the Pirates a 5-1 loss at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston. Carl Klingberg scored two goals for the IceCaps and added an assist to lead St. John's past the Pirates in their 5-1 win.

The IceCaps started the scoring early on in the first, scoring just over two minutes into the game. After dumping the puck into the zone, St. John's forward Andrew Gordon won the race to the puck and fed teammate Carl Klingberg in front. With no one around him, Klingberg calmly beat Visentin to take the 1-0 lead. St. John's continued to pressure the Pirates, outshooting them 16-7, but the period ended with the Pirates only trailing by one.

When the second period started the IceCaps continued their domination, scoring three times to take a commanding 4-0 lead. At 4:39, the Pirates turned the puck over at their own blue line and the IceCaps quickly capitalized as Albert buried a one-timer from just below the hashmarks. Later on in the second, the Pirates took two penalties in quick secession, giving the IceCaps a 5-on-3 man advantage. The Pirates were able to kill one penalty and were seconds away from a successful kill when Jason Jaffray blasted a slapshot from the top of the right circle. The puck beat Visentin to the far post, blocker side, and gave the IceCaps a three-goal lead. Barely two minutes later, as both teams had a man in the box, the IceCaps notched their fourth goal of the game when Andrew Gordon was able to beat Visentin. That goal marked the end of the night for Visentin, as he was replaced by the recently recalled Louis Domingue.

Finally in the third, the Pirates found the back of the net as Brandon Yip was able to knock home a rebound in front. The puck bounced down after finding iron and Yip, standing in perfect position, lifted the puck over the sprawling Pasquale. But the IceCaps retook the four-goal lead just over a minute later when Klingberg scored his second of the game, this time from the left hashmark, beating Domingue with a great shot off the crossbar and in.

The Pirates will look for revenge against the IceCaps Friday as the teams are scheduled for another 7 p.m. start time in Lewiston. The game can be heard on the Pirates flagship stations WPEI 95.5/95.9 FM as well as WEZR AM 1240 in the Lewiston/Auburn area and WTME AM 780/1450 in Oxford County.
