Worcester, MA – The Portland Pirates will look for a weekend sweep of the Worcester Sharks when they face off this afternoon at the DCU Center in Worcester. Game time is 3 PM for the third meeting between the two teams this season, Each team has won once, with the home team victorious on both occasions.
The Pirates defeated the Sharks 5-1 on Friday at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee for their first home victory of the 2013-14 season. Lucas Lessio scored twice, and Brandon Yip, Brandon McMillan, and Gilbert Brule added tallies of their own in the decisive victory. On the other side, Mark Visentin made 45 saves, the second most of his career, to earn his third victory of the season. The Pirates celebrated Military Appreciation Night on Friday, wearing camouflage jerseys and honoring veterans and active duty military throughout the game.
Worcester played on Saturday night, dropping a 5-2 decision to the Providence Bruins. Eriah Hayes and Bracken Kearns scored for the Sharks, but Providence scored the first three goals of the game, including a pair of Carter Camper power play tallies. Troy Grosenick picked up the loss after making 22 saves on 26 shots for Worcester.

Keeping Their Cool: The Sharks and Pirates have had a number of physical clashes, with Friday’s game being no exception. The Pirates will have the advantage in this contest if they keep their cool and focus on playing with skill rather than pure physicality.
