Tonight was the second of two U.S. Cellular Player Card giveaway Nights. The first 5,000 fans received the second set of 12 Portland Pirates player collector cards sponsored by U.S. Cellular.
In addition, U.S. Cellular handed out 2,000 sets of Thundersticks.
Fans had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for the SHIRTS OFF THEIR BACKS raffle that was held on Fan Appreciation Night on April 11th.

On the way into the arena, fans received a numbered envelope from
Five County Credit Union. The envelopes contained a #5 Jason King magnet. And during the first period, one winning number was announced. The lucky fan holding that envelope won $500 cash!
One lucky fan also won a pirate ship playground (a value of $5,000) brought to you by Five County Credit Union's Ship Account. Registration boxes were located at all Pirates merchandise stands and the Customer Service desk. The drawing was held during the second intermission. The ship, built by Shed Happens, will be delivered to your back yard by some of the Pirates!
The Portland Pirates and Hanaford kicked off the American Heart Association's Start! program at tonight's game. The American Heart Association was selling 100 Mystery Pucks signed by Portland Pirates players with all proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association. What’s the mystery? Finding out which player has signed your puck! Plus, one lucky winner received a $250 gift card from Hannaford.
The Portland Pirates and The State D.A.R.E. Program partnered up for a D.A.R.E. Night. The D.A.R.E program was proud to have the National D.A.R.E. spokesman, "Retro Bill", at the game. Fans were invited to stay after the game for a performance by Retro Bill.

Operation Homefront
During the first intermission, Jim Carey was inducted into the the Portland Pirates Hall of Fame presented by Unum. Fans received a collectible Jim Carey oversized player card courtesy of Unum.
 The Pirates worked with Operation Homefront to raise funds and bring military families to the game. This was the culmination of 3 rounds that were completed on Sunday, November 18th, Friday, December 21st, and Friday, January 11th.

 Join us for a "Day of Hockey" to benefit the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital presented by the Bill Dodge Auto Group. The day included many hockey events including the Pirates game against the Admirals. After the game, the Pirates participated in Salty Pete's "Skate for the Kids" sponsored by Weight Watchers and Mercy Hospital. A youth hockey game was held during the 1st intermission. The Maine Medical Center Broomball Tournament with Celebrity Referees Travis Lee, Lee Goldberg & Dave Eid took place before the game along with a
Huskies Youth Hockey Mites Tournament the morning of the game.

Salute to Motorsports
Saturday Night is Hockey Night in Portland
The Pirates, the Cumberland County Civic Center and our partners - including NAPA, Oxford Plains Speedway, Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, and Maine Indoor karting celebrated the Annual Salute to Motorsports.
Doors opened at 5:00 PM for a motorsports expo complete with cars on display, local drivers, and great prizes - including a VIP trip to Loudon courtesy of NAPA Auto Parts.
Beech Ridge Motor Speedway brought 2 cars and drivers to the event: #2 Sport Series with Driver Robert Emery and #22 Pro Series with Driver Aaron Ricker who was the Rookie of the Year for the Pro Series Division. Beech Ridge also gave away a season pass.
Oxford Plains Speedway brought 2 cars and drivers from 3 of their racing teams - the Conrad Childs and JARRACING teams were presented with their cars and Judy Green from Crazy Horse Racing was at the event. Oxford Plains Speedway gave away a pair of tickets to the 2008 TD Banknorth 250 at OPS. The Race is Sunday July 20 at 2pm. Nascar driver Kevin Harvick has already entered!
The Kora Shriners brought two Mini Racers.

Casco Bay High School Night! Tonight, 17 9th and 10th grade students from Casco Bay High School were at the game and presented their mission statement and vision as part of the Junior Achievement of Maine's "Company Program." Last year, the Pirates, Casco Bay High School and Junior Achievement joined forces to present at the Pirates game on January 26, 2007 and raised $5,000 for Casco Bay High School's library and technology needs. This year, the Junior Achievement's Company Program continued to serve as the model around which the Pirates and the students from Casco Bay High School will generate to gain an understanding about running a business.
This program is presented by Maine Bank & Trust and Unum and supported by MEMIC, the Bill Dodge Auto Group,Time Warner Cable, Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, and the St.Clair Media Group.

Kids joined the Pirates and Nickelodeon's Dora the Explorer for a special matinee game. Let's Go! gave out healthy snacks and kids had the chance to take their pictures with Dora the Explorer!

It was Goodwill Night with the Pirates. Goodwill had trucks parked outside the Civic Center where fans could donate items. For making a donation, fans received a free Main Deck ticket to a future game.
During the 1st intermission Casco Bay Youth Hockey Players competed in third of three Shootout Showdowns. 3 Mites and 3 Squirts each took 3 shots on a goalie at both ends of the ice. The winner from the Mites division and Squirt division moved on to the Championship round held during the Pirates game on Sunday, March 2nd. A total of 24 Casco Bay Youth Players participated in the season long tournament.

During the 1st intermission Casco Bay Youth Hockey Players competed in the second of three Shootout Showdowns. 3 Mites and 3 Squirts each took 3 shots on a goalie at both ends of the ice. The winner from the Mites division and Squirt division moved on to the Championship round held during the Pirates game on Sunday, March 2nd. A total of 24 Casco Bay Youth Players participated in the season long tournament.

Ducks Unlimited Duck Calls
Saturday Night is Hockey Night
Join us for the first Hockey Night in Portland of the 2007-2008 season.
Ducks Unlimited gave out duck calls to the first 2,000 fans.
Today marked the arrival of the Stanley Cup to Maine. It was the first time since 2003 that the Cup has come to Portland. During the day the Pirates provided an opportunity for fans from all over the state of Maine to view take pictures and celebrate the Stanley Cup in Maine. A schedule of appearances led up to the Pirates game versus the Lowell Devils (New Jersey Devils) at the Cumberland County Civic Center at 7:05 p.m. The pre-game events at the Civic Center also included a performance on the Spring Street plaza by the band WEATHERD, an acoustic, pop, rock style band. The performance began at 5:15.
The Pirates celebrated the Anaheim Ducks Championship with a full schedule of events throughout the day. Transportation for the Stanley Cup was provided by Lilly’s Limousine. The schedule for the day is below:
Androscoggin Bank Colisee from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. (Appearance by Governor Baldacci)
L.L.Bean from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Portland Museum of Art from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital from 1:45 p.m.– 2:30 p.m.
Cumberland County Civic Center starting at 5:15 p.m.
